OnTrack Reading

Literacy Curriculum and TechnologyMadison, WI

After spending years helping struggling students unlock their reading potential with a proven interventional literacy curriculum, this specialized educational company wasn't reaching its own full potential. We set out to transform their valuable content into a modern brand and digital platform worthy of the results they deliver.

Fully Automated Print and Digital E-Commerce

OnTrack had been selling its workbooks through a print-on-demand platform that processed transactions independently but withheld buyer information. Astuteo migrated the operation to Shopify’s $9/month Starter plan and reconnected the same print vendor via a free plugin – reclaiming ownership of customer data in the process. A second plugin enabled automatic stamping of purchase dates and unique license details on digital PDFs, resulting in a fully automated print and digital publishing workflow.

From Modest Sales to Meaningful Revenue Growth

Before our work began, the OnTrack Reading website generated modest revenue from printed workbook sales. We redesigned the site to focus on better UX and more prominent calls to action, doubling revenue the following year. In year two, we redesigned the workbooks while also adding licensed PDF options in response to customer demand. Revenue leapt to 8.5x the baseline – partially driven by one major order. In year three, revenue stabilized around 4x the original baseline, reflecting a dependable flow of print and digital sales.
